This year is off to a strong start for our industry. What a contrast from just 12 months ago when we were still emerging from the economic shock of the pandemic and uncertainty reigned about the pace of our recovery. Today it feels like every company is running flat out to keep up, and most emerged more efficient and resilient than before the crisis.
During the last six months, our engagements have revealed new approaches that didn’t exist before the pandemic. AllClear for Turnarounds offers a way to deliver emergency readiness to temporary projects that otherwise rely on paper, pens, and radios. We came upon it because the “reset button” of the pandemic permitted us to have new and different conversations with our customers. Here’s what we learned about projects and turnarounds:
- Emergency readiness challenges that are worse than any operating area. Managers are coping with a larger site population, which is challenging. The majority of personnel working on the project are transient, making training them for an emergency difficult. The biggest risk is when the plant shuts down and restarts.
- They are judged on efficiency, and we can help with that. We found that time on tools is a constant friction point and digitizing the emergency readiness helps personnel flow through the facility more quickly and efficiently and not just by a little. We just finished a project where we delivered savings in the mid-six figures!
- They have the same focus on Digital Transformation as the rest of the business. The project’s temporary and often remote nature makes this need even more pronounced. Applying technology to emergency readiness fills an essential progress requirement for them.
The pandemic hit the industrial sector like a train car bumping into the one in front of it. As we move forward, each train car rattles, bumps, and tugs on the car’s link. Our marketplace is racing to hop aboard the moving train and we stand ready to listen and respond to the unique needs of the future.
